Claire is here...

Well, it was a VERY long start to a very quick delivery! We arrived at Summerlin Hospital at 2am, Sunday morning, when they scheduled me and they put us in the waiting room b/c they were full...oh my. At almost 3 am they put us in our room. They started the meds that were supposed to prepare me for my induction, however, after 12 hours of the medicine working, it did NOTHING so...they wanted to do it AGAIN....and AGAIN, after 12 hours, it did NOTHING! UH...it was very frustrating and tiring. I wasn't sleeping b/c of contractions and constant nurses in my room so before the birth process even began, I was exhausted! They decided around 10am on Monday that they would start me on petocin, the induction medicine and hope that it wouldn't send me to a c-section b/c my body didn't respond to the previous medicine. So, around 11:45am the meds started....it was a slow process. The contractions picked up and started to become unbearable.....next came the epideral. Soon after, I started making progress VERY quickly. For some reason my epideral wasn't working properly and I started having crazy, intense pain near the end, they gave me some more and it got better. Not to share too much info but...next came the GREAT and EASY part..the nurse wanted me to start pushing, I pushed once and she told me to stop and wait for the doctor b/c Claire was ready to enter the world. The Dr. came, as he was getting ready to deliver her, she just started coming on her own..after one little push, out she came, YAY! She was perfect. The cord was around her neck but it wasn't a scare at all, she was fine. Crazy thing is, she weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and the whole reason why I was being induced early was b/c they were expecting her to be very small and to outweight some risks, wanted her to not go past term....she was definitely smaller than Carson which definitely helped with the process :)

Carson came to see us the next day...we had missed him SOOOOO much! He acted SO much differently than we had expected. He got all shy and was not interested in being with us at all. After a few minutes and a few fruit snacks, he got over it and was loving on us and Claire.

Here are a few more pics of our precious daughter. We are SO blessed and excited to have her at home, it also helps that my body feels a million times better :)

Last couple days...

Claire has definitely fooled me several times in the past week. I told Daniel several nights, "this is it." The contractions were strong but never lasted long enough or got close enough together to send us to the hospital, unfortunately. This week summed up my last appointment with my OB and my last time getting monitored. Looks like Claire is holding out until Sunday at 2am when I go in to start the induction process. I sure wish she would just come on her own to avoid this long and drawn out process of them inducing me, but since this little stinker is small, doctors say we gotta get her out before I go past due.

So, I've been trying to enjoy my last couple days of mommy to one but my body isn't allowing me to be much fun. With the constant, INSANE heartburn (that I just cannot wait to get rid of) and insane pressure and aching, things have been pretty low key around here. I am hoping that on Saturday I feel okay enough for us to have a fun day together as a family. I will just push through b/c I will know that a day later I will be meeting our daughter and that is VERY exciting!

We'll keep you updated...gotta go grab some Tums...

April 11th....

A little update on my pregnancy (I'm almost 38 weeks)... had an appt. with my Dr. yesterday and she went ahead and scheduled me for the 11th. So, if Claire doesn't come on her own before then, this will be the day. The high risk dr. doesn't want to keep her inside past 39 weeks b/c of her size and they know FOR SURE at 39 weeks that everything is fully developed. I would still rather go into labor on my own but at least I know that at the latest, in just over a week, we'll be headed to the hospital to start the process to meet our daughter! YAY!

Today got me worried a bit...I still go get monitored twice a week and I went today in the midst of feeling SUPER sick all day. I felt like I had some sort of stomach bug and wasn't able to keep much down, including fluids. My amniotic fluid level is normally around 14 and it was 6 today. If gets below 5 they send you straight to the hospital. So, I'm thankful it's above 5 but a little nervous since I don't go to get monitored again until Monday. She told me to drink a ton, hoping it stays down and to take it easy. I just pray my fluid stays above 5 and I don't have to be rushed in for an emergency c-section :( Say a prayer that this little girl stays active throughout the weekend so I know she is doing ok.
